What is Cinco de Mayo?
Do you know the true meaning behind the celebration of Cinco de Mayo? Although many times are mistaken for Mexico’s Independence Day, that is inaccurate. Cinco de Mayo commemorates Mexico’s victory over France in a battle taken place in 1862. While France later occupied Mexico for a few more years, the celebrations still continue prominently in the United States.

Cinco de Mayo at Steel Cactus

Steel Cactus is hosting an exciting event for Cinco de Mayo! Visit the restaurant for a night of live music, a DJ, food and drink specials, dancing and more! This is a great event for both family and a friends’ night out.
Tina’s De Mayo Weekend Block Party
Saturday, May 4th at 4:00 PM
On Saturday, May 4th, Tina’s and Mi Empanada are shutting down their section of Main Street and hosting a party outdoors! This event lasts two days, with a $5 ticket general admission ticket available on Saturday and a $30 brunch ticket available on Sunday. Your ticket on Sunday will include an outdoor seat for the live performance, a generous portion of Latin inspired food, a complimentary drink and more!
Pittsburgh’s Taco Takeover
Sunday, May 5th from 1:00 PM to 8:00 PM
On Cinco de Mayo, 20 of the best restaurants in Pittsburgh will be offering their own take on tacos! These tacos range from more traditional to very unique. This event is free and family-friendly. There will also be live local music, lawn games and beverages for sale.
